Solar Panels

Are you fed up with rising fuel costs? Do you feel there's nothing you can do about it? Well now you can. SSGE can provide up to 70% of your total hot water from solar panels. Immedietly good for your carbon footprint and your wallet, solar energy is one of the best renewable and eco-friendly ways of heating hot water for your home.

Our panels work as long as there is daylight, on a cloudy day and even in 0°C. The greatest gain is March to October when you will achieve all the hot water you need. From November to Febuary they will produce warm water assisting your boiler to achieve the temperature you require.

Made from black anodised aluminium, the panels have a special low iron glass with a selective surface to absorb maximum sunlight. Glycol is continually pumped through a series of copper piping in the solar panels. After getting hot from the suns rays it is then run through a water cylinder warming the water ready for a loverly shower or bath.

FAQ's

Sounds good. But how long before they pay for themselves?

Around seven years is the industry's conservative estimate at today's energy costs. But as energy prices are predicted to rise dramatically over the next few years, installing solar panels is a very sensible investment and an easy way to lower your energy bills. At the same time reducing the wear and tear on your boiler and extending it's life. There are very few capital expernditures that you will make which will give you as much payback. With the return on savings very low, investing in solar panels is a far better way to save money.

Im worried that they will spoil the look of my home.

In most cases our slimline panels are installed level (integrated) into your roof tiles. The aluminium frames are maintenance free and will last for many years.

How long do they take to install?

Most installations are straight forward and usually take a day or so. Our qualified engineers are fully trained in all aspects of plumbing and heating and all our work is fully guaranteed for 10 years.

Will I need planning Permission?

As our slimline panels are below the 200mm projection rule, in most cases they do not require planning permission. These new generation of solar panels are so good, the government are endorsing their use by a low level of VAT (5%).
